Chove en Santiago meu doce amor, camelia branca do ar brila entebrecida ao sol. Chove en Santiago, na noite escura. Herbas de prata e sono cobren a valeira lùa.

An Old Friend
One of the most important things in my life has been music. Whether it be singing, listening or playing guitar. As I'm sitting here going through my CDs and deciding which songs to add to my iPod, I'm realising just how important music has been to me. Each CD is a part of me. Each song is a memory or a feeling or a mood or a form of escapism. Music takes me away from reality and lets me get absorbed in myself. I've always been an introvert. I hang on every note and every verse. I cherish moments by myself with music. Staring at my pile of over 300 CDs, I see myself.

Flat Stanley
My 7 year old neice, Ellie, has a school project which consists of coloring a little paper boy called Flat and then taking him to different places and creating a photographic journal of all the fun things he did. I think Ellie's going to win the contest. Most kids in her class will probably have pictures at the beach or at the local museum. I decided to take Flat on a little Trans-Atlantic trip with me...
...here's Flat on a London motorway going to Heathrow airport...

...and here he is in front of the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela, Spain...

I think he had fun.

Born and Bred
Go Heels!

(Wish I could have been there to take some pictures myself, but I'll just have to settle for these I got off of NYtimes.com and planetquake.com.)
Hark the Sound
Hark the sound of Tar Heel voices
Ringing clear and true.
Singing Carolina's praises.
Shouting N-C-U.
Hail to the brightest star of all
Clear its radiance shine
Carolina priceless gem.
Receive all praises thine.

My alma mater.
I'm a Tar Heel Born
I'm a Tar Heel born
I'm a Tar Heel bred
And when I die
I'm a Tar Heel dead.
So it's Rah, Rah, Car'lina-lina
Rah, Rah, Car'lina-lina
Rah, Rah, Car'lina-lina
Rah! Rah! Rah!
(Ok, I can't lie...way back when I was a child, I pulled for the devils...then I came to my senses...I'm ashamed to admit it...but it's true...I was young and naive...now I can move on)
